The Papua New Guinea National Disaster Centre has certain mechanisms or tools at its disposal to support disaster response. They are designed to ensure that assistance is delivered fast and efficiently to people affected by disasters through the provision of funding, experienced and trained human resources and appropriate emergency services

Papua New Guinea being located around the tropical region and along the Pacific Ring of Fire is prone to natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, flood, cyclone, landslides, tsunamis, etc. The National Disaster Centre has classified certain hazards which are prevalent in Papua New Guinea.
Being aware and informed of disaster is of paramount importance to our communities through out Papua New Guinea, especially rural communities which are vulnerable. Given recent disasters of large magnitudes, you should be well informed with disaster awareness materials that are provided by the National Disaster Centre.
