Papua New Guinea (PNG), located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, is highly prone to natural hazards due to its rugged terrain, tropical climate, and tectonic activity. The country experiences frequent earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, and floods, with rising sea levels and climate change exacerbating risks for coastal and island communities. Major disasters, such as the 2018 Highlands earthquake and recurring volcanic eruptions, have caused widespread destruction and displacement. Strengthening disaster awareness through education, early warning systems, and community preparedness is vital to reducing the impact of these hazards on PNG's population.
